Kujenga na watakuja!

(Build it and they will come!)

After almost 5 years "in the making" the final building

of the Lekrumuni Dispensary

is under construction.

With its completion, the dispensary will be government approved to provide

24/7 service by government provided staff  (a doctor and nurse)

to the Maasai people of the area.

Tanzania Day 2012

Tanzania Day 2012...a visit with H.E. Ambassador Maajar

I have the great fortune of working in an industry where connections are king. And my connection just happened to have been on the board of a company called Celtel, a prominent mobile company in Africa (before it was acquired in 2005). He reached out to a former board member, who in turn introduced me to the Tanzanian Ambassador to the United States, based in Washington, D.C. A couple of emails, a personal invitation to visit, a not-so-short red-eye flight and a “Tanzania Day” celebration later, Pam, mom and I had the wonderful fortune of spending the day with H.E. Ambassador Mwanaidi  Maajar, Ambassadors from other countries like Fiji and Laos and a couple hundred other people who were from Tanzania and/or interested in the culture and land of Tanzania. Check out photos of our Tanzania Day experience..

One of the main purposes of our trip was to talk with the Ambassador about our goals for T.H.E. Mission and areas that are in continuous need of support. To that end, with promises of continued support, capital is needed. Enter the need for a fundraiser. Our trip to D.C. offered us many opportunities – networking, relationship building and recognition. Most importantly, it gave us the chance to sit down with the Ambassador to share our journey, gain her cooperation and extend the invitation to be our honored guest at our fundraiser in New York.  As Ambassador Maajar has accepted the invitation, it should be a night to remember. One thing I can tell you for sure – it’s an opportunity that was given to me that I won’t ever forget. Sarah Jones Wenzel
